Its a tough life but someone has to do it...
I've been living and working in Canada for a month now and so far have loved every second. Well... all most every second, I don't love the second I hear my annoyingly cheery alarm tune courtesy of Nokia at 6 am every morning. But, I do have to say my life is worth getting up at silly o clock in the morning. I get to see the sun rise at 8650ft above sea level, my office is the stunning Canadian rockies and I get first track runs at Lake Louise resort before any members of the public are allowed. What is my job I hear you cry? Well Im a full time snowboard instructor at the infamous Lake Louise resort in Alberta. It's my first season of teaching and I absolutley love it, its the first job I've truly loved and who wouldn't. Fresh mountain air, stunning scenery, happy people and of course the snowboarding everyday.
As i mentioned my day starts at 6am. Bus 6.30. Arrive at the office 7.30ish. Green tea and porridge. Boots on. Good morning snowboard. Hello snow and fresh air, bye bye hangover.
Morning lessons start about 10.30 am, but by the time I've rounded up my kids for the day and made sure they have just the one snowboard, a pair of boots...on the correct feet, nose wiped and mentioned our no wee, no ski policy it tends to be a little later. As hectic as it is, I love teaching kids. Not only does it give me the excuse to act like one, you get the oppurtunity to inspire a little person to take up snowboarding for the rest of their life. Thus, giving them a respect for our mountains, an amazing sense of freedom and an adrenaline rush you cant beat. Ok, Im possible being overly optimistic here

yeah its a pretty awesome lifestyle aye? the feeling of privileg. How lucky to be able to enjoy the views and the cold environment without losing toes. The act of snowbording down untracked glades make you feel alive and so lucky... It always makes me wonder about the bigger questions in life with out neededing to answere them, yet!
If to pay my way along that path I HAVE to share my passion for snowbaording with others and get them stoked... well, i guess we all ahve our cross to bear, right? ;)
