Hello. Sorry to invade the female space but I need some advice from a lady concerning my girlfriend and choosing a new board for her. First let me explaine a few details. I am an experienced rider getting back into the game after a few years off and my lady friend has decided to give it a go as she has always wanted to learn to shred. So I do a little digging and research as I have never purchassed a womens board before and really didn't know what the difference was. I found a few that I thought suited her 5'8" / 130(ish)lb. frame.

The GNU B-Nice 148/151

The Roxy Ollie Pop 148/151

The Roxy  Ally BTX  151

I'm thinking maybe these would be pretty rad for her but she saw my LibTech and did some looking of her own and thinks she wants  to get a Travis Rice Pro model or maybe a TRS 148/151. She is definately wanting a Mervyns Manufacturing board due to the eco friendly/ made in the U.S.A. vibe. (I have to agree) I'm a little concerned about her getting a mens board and how it could affect her learning ability. I suppose it's all about personal preference but I don't want her to get something and not like it and I don't want to get her something and her not like it.... So.

Do I get her what she wants or what I think she needs? Opinions, advice and words of wisdom welcomed. Thanks for you're time. Sorry for epic long post.

I don't think the Lib Tech boards are a great idea for 2 reasons. First off they are both over $500 and personally I think it's silly to spend that much on your first board. You need to ride a bit to learn what you want out of a board. Secondly, neither are going to be an easy to ride board for a beginner since they are targeted at aggressive riders. I'm not opposed to women riding mens boards, but at least get the right type of mens board for what you're doing.

I also asked boot size, because often if a woman has smaller feet a mens board will be too wide, but the TRS 148/151 are narrow versions.

I think the B-Nice or Ally are both good choices.

hey,

ive got the roxy ollie pop in 151cm and its my first board since learning on crappy rental boards. I totally love the board, has some flex so its forgiving ( but also great if i decide to start to doing some basic flatland tricks). At the moment i mainly just stay on piste and i find that it is also really good for holding an edge with the magni traction.. all in all i really like. I did try out some other boards when looking to buy but i really liked the roxy board.

I also wanted to try out the Never summer Infinity and the GNU B-Pro but I couldnt find anywhere in the UK that stocked either board in my size... bad times.

I would def say she should try a few boards regardless as she may find something that suits her really well. Just go in with an open mind --- she may be pleasently surprised. Also dont get hung on a board because of graphics, its all baout how it rides Cool
