Board Advice
Hey!
Could use some board advice. When I bought my first board I just listened to a friend and some people at a store, but am unsure based on what I'm reading on the Internet now I got the right board 4 years ago.
Height - 5'6
Weight - 130
Boot Size - 10
Current board - 2007 Ride Solace - 143
Home spot - Perfect North Slopes (Indiana) - mostly man-made snow and lots of times ice!
Riding skills - beginner/intermediate - Been riding 3-4 years and am stable and can do any hill at PN. Turns are proficient. Can ride switch, but am not as stable so would like to be better at that. Can handle decent speed and most of the weird things cropping up due to random mini rollers and people suddenly appear in front of you. Not into park yet, but would like to be at some point. Don't see myself spending the whole time there though.
Any recs on boards? Am thinking I prefer Twin since my current board is directional and I'm finding it harder to ride switch than when I rode a twin rental.
Thanks!
Thanks!
If you are 5'4, a 143 should be and IS way too small for you. I am 5'0 and i ride a 145, preferably longer if I am doing back country or more powder.
Also consider looking into a libtech (GNU, Roxy) board if you mention that you have lots of ice. All their women's boards have what they call magna traction which is a waved/seraded edge versus a smooth edge. It will allow you to get your edge better in icy conditions. One of the boards i ride is a GNU b-street with the magna traction and works great on all mountain terrains even the park.
Rome does have some great stuff but the magna traction is definitely something to consider.
Hey there.
I would suggest getting an all round mountain board like the Rome Vinyl (which is what I ride) which is great for the parks and pistes. It's almost twintip which means it great for practising riding switch. It's a light board and has good flex so I think it would be good for your level and allowing you to progress.
I've ridden other boards but this is by far my fave.
