A board for my Lady
Hi Folks
I was recommended to add a message on here seeking advice on getting a board for my other half. Here goes;
I am currently trying to get my other half to get her own board and bindings (already got decent boots). On the basis that last time we went, her hire board was possibly the heaviest board I have ever had the displeasure to lug about for her (I'm such a gent - it was a 146 Elan something or other and weighed loads more than my 162!! Also, the base looked like an aerial photo of the moon)
The board she likes is the Wild Duck Birdy....nothing to do with tech specs but simply because it is £149 and has a picture of a bird on it! In fact, graphics and price are her two key areas.
Anyone got one, ridden one? Hate it, Love it, Its alright etc etc.
Anyone got any other budget/simple graphic recommendations? Preferably last season kit as she loves a bargain!
She is a learner although can happily ride reg or goofy!! In fact, it is difficult to ditinguish which is her more natural stance! Gonna get her to the snodome for some lessons before our hol too to give her time to get used to it!
Any advice you can offer will be gratefully accepted!
I ride a (last season's) k2 luna too and would totally recommend it for a beginner-intermediate rider. It's a good all-mountain board, and not bad in the park. In addition, I find it super-light which is not only appreciated for park, but when sitting on those looooong chairlift rides too! Quite a nice simple graphic, esp. compared to this season's luna. I did see some for sale in snow and rock, check out the website.
I guess it depends what size you're looking for but one of our advertising partners has last year's Nitro Mistique for £139 - it's a 152 though.
They also have a couple of well-priced ex-demo boards including a Forum Aura, Palmer Touch and Venue Coral which might be options too - if they're the right size.

I agree with the girls that the Luna is a good choice too - other similarish boards are the Salomon Lotus, Ride Solace or Vista and the Flow Elation.
I don't know what the Wild Duck is like, but I just think it's lovely you are buying her a board and have come on Powderoom for suggestions! She's a very lucky girl!
PS: Burton Feather is good or a Ride Vista.
Also... Board Demo night at Tamworth on October 24th. I bought an ex demo Burton Feather at a Demo night there. You get to try it out too before you buy, but you have to wait until they've finished all the demos. (cheap alternative and a new season board)
Thanks All!!! :D
I'll be reporting back with the boards you have mentioned and we'll see how we go!
I've checked all the various websites for lengths etc and it is recommending a 153 for all round use. So really, anything near that size will be thoroughly scrutinised!
Again, thanks for the advice!
hey, i've got a ride vista for sale, pm me if your interested for more info
Try her out on a K2 luna, it would probably match her ability and it's a well nice board, I'm sure you could pick one up in a sale from last season no bother.
Check out K2's website for all the specs http://www.k2snowboards.com
Hope that helps!
