New Bulgarian Snowboard Film - "Promised land"
Hey, guys,
I just ran into something interesting - a new Bulgarian snowboard film called "Promised land". I think I'll go check it out,it looks good. Tomorrow is the premier.
The person behind it is Stoil Dimitrov. Rene Eckert, who's already done a number of films on the Euro and Balkan snow scene, also took part in the making. The film was shot in winter 2010/11 when Bulgaria had one of the poorest snowfalls ever. Still it seems they've captured not only the deception from the bad conditions, but also the joy of some rare moments.

So, I went to the premiere of Promise Land last night at Club Mixtape in Sofia. The place was litteraly cracking, there were more than 400 people in there! (see photo here: http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/425190_183678671735166_176551169114583_202136_347813575_n.jpg)
The movie was actually pretty well done. It was thought as a a mainly freeride experience, as the riders said during the movie. The crew managed to get some nice shots and lines despite the lack of snow last year. The movie takes place mainly in Bansko, but at a certain point the crew went riding at Mt. Olympus, Greece.
I hope Promise Land will be available to watch online, I'll update when I know more.
I think they've done a great job, it was definitely worth seeing. The makers said they managed to get more sponsors this year and that they are currently filming. And boy did we get pow this year! I'm looking forward to the new film.
